Taarab music is a vibrant fusion of pre-Islamic Swahili tunes presented in rhythmic poetic fashion, enriched with Arab-style melodies. It is very popular, significantly amongst ladies, and is deeply ingrained in the social lifetime of the Swahili folks along the coastal areas, notably in Zanzibar, Tanga, Mombasa, and Malindi along the Kenyan coast.
